Reviews
Best Mexican in Iowa City, no doubt. And that's saying something, because IC had lots of great options!
Great food! Brought me back to the good authentic food from California! Will be making trips back from Clinton.
I have been meaning to try this place forever. Today I stopped in for the steak tacos and they were delicious. I also really enjoyed the green salsa that came on the side. This doubles as a restaurant and store. I'll definitely be back.
If you want authentic Mexican food, look no further. Don't go to Cactus or Casa Azul because they market their food to people who think pepper is spicy. El Paso know how to make a real street taco. I bought a burrito and some tacos, not expecting the burrito to be bigger than my head! I got all the food for less than $20. Such a great deal for some great food. The staff was very friendly and welcoming to me, which was great because I don't speak much Spanish. I will only be coming here for Mexican food from now on
Place looks a little sketchy on the outside but it's a very small, 4 table restaurant/mini market, but don't let that scare you from trying this hole in the wall. Food was good, the torta was filled w meat/veggies to balance out the warm bread. Taco was good and the tripe was crispy and not too oily. Definitely authentic Mexican food and the hot sauces had a nice amount of heat. Service was quick & our waitress was friendly. We would be back to try other items on their menu.
